Arbitration

I have arbitrated hundreds of cases in Illinois State Courts, the American Arbitration Association and for FINRA, usually as panel chair.

Arbitration involves a judgmental approach as contrasted to mediation, in which the mediator does not decide the outcome.

My arbitrations have included cases involving small amounts up to many millions of dollars. Parties have often expressed satisfaction with the conduct of my arbitrations.

The key to good arbitration is a hearing and a process in which each side is afforded the opportunity to present a full, fair and complete hearing. I carefully review the submissions, facts and arguments, allow full, uninterrupted presentations, control the conduct of the proceeding as well as discovery and motion practice, if any, and provide a correct award.
